SHERIFF, DEPUTY
This is a sworn officer responsible for providing law enforcement services within Fulton County to prevent crimes, preserve the peace, and make arrests. Responsibilities include securing and providing safety to County buildings, courtrooms, jail, and other public areas and processing and securing inmates at the Fulton County Jail.
Salary – Minimum $36,536 - $54,382 annually
Requirements
United States Citizen
Must be at least twenty (20) years of age at time of application
Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirement of an Associate’s degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, or a related field OR two (2) years work experience as a Certified Peace Officer with full arrest powers
Fulton County Detention Officers may exchange two (2) years of service in a non-probationary status, and successful completion of Georgia Peach Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) for the education requirement for Sheriff, Deputy
OR - An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Valid Georgia Driver's License
- Must attend and successfully complete the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certification and Jailer Certification Course within one year of employment
- Must be willing and able to perform rotating shift work
- Must successfully pass the pre-employment process which includes the evaluation of education, training and experience accomplished by the analysis of the application
- Drug Screen
- Physical exam
- Psychological evaluation
- Polygraph
- Background investigation – includes:
Criminal History Record Driver History
Financial/Credit Previous Employment
Neighborhood Check Character and Social Acquaintance
Court check for Criminal and Civil Law Suits
- Oral panel interview
In order to conduct the background investigation, originals of the following documents will be required for verification:
- Proof of citizenship - High School Diploma or GED
- College Transcript - Valid Driver's License
DETENTION OFFICER
Officers perform operational duties related to overseeing detained inmates, monitoring inmate visitation, and securing detention facilities. Responsibilities include supervising inmate work details, generating reports, maintaining records, and assisting Sheriff Deputies in transporting inmates to various facilities.
- Salary – Minimum $33,058 - $50,371 annually
Requirements
- * United States Citizen
* Must be at least twenty (20) years of age at the time application
* Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirement of a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; and one (1) year experience performing public safety, security or customer service duties; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
* Valid Georgia Driver's License
* Must attend and successfully complete the Jailer Certification Course issued through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.)
* Must be willing and able to perform rotating shift work
