The Fulton  County Jail Now Offers Video Visitation

Visitors will have a simpler way to see inmates face-to-face thanks to new innovations being introduced at the Fulton County Jail. The sheriff's office is in the process of installing a video conferencing system that will provide a central area where visitors can see inmates on a video screen. Video telephones will be used as part of this service.

The inmate housing areas will have similar units allowing them to interface with visitors. On January 14, 2009, jail staff began phasing in the new system, starting with 2 South Tower and will gradually use the system for the entire facility. These improvements will increase efficiency and safety at the same time. The new system will save visitors time by speeding up the check-in process and eliminating the need for them to go to housing units for meetings.

This is another way for jail staff to eliminate the possibility of visitors attempting to bring contraband into the facility. With this new system, children under 14 are allowed to visit inmates.

Fulton County Jail inmates are required to list persons they wish to see. Visitors will need to register on the Sheriff's Office website in advance. Individuals who do not have Internet access will be allowed to register at the Visitation Center

This will allow jail staff to screen potential visitors in compliance with the rules and regulations established by the Fulton County Jail.  Once a citizen has registered, he or she will be able to choose a date & time for the visit. The visitor should arrive at the jail at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time with proper identification.
